A Space for Faith

As parents, we often feel the need to control outcomes and plan every detail for our children’s growth and well-being. But sometimes, our best efforts are just the beginning.

Over the past few months, my faith has been stretched. I realized that in my effort to be responsible, I was leaving little room for God to work in ways beyond what I could see or control. One of my friends called this “a space for faith.” It’s the practice of doing what we can while trusting God to handle the rest, knowing He can do far more than we imagine.

In parenting, leaving a space for faith can look like:

  • Praying boldly for your child’s health, happiness, or growth, and trusting God’s timing.

  • Letting go of perfectionism and acknowledging that some outcomes are beyond our control.

  • Modeling faith for your children, showing them that love, hope, and trust can guide your family even in uncertainty.

Leaving space for faith doesn’t mean doing nothing. It means balancing responsible action with trust, knowing that God is at work even when we can’t see it. When we do this, we can rest in the assurance that all is not just okay, it is well.
